I love how easy this combo is to just throw on–a t-shirt dress and my new adidas kicks (these were a throw-back for me for sure!). This look would also work easily for school.

I could seriously eat frozen yogurt every day, especially in the summer! I can’t say the same for K–All he wanted was the little m n m’s. He literally picked them off this with fingers! These native slip ons have been awesome this summer for his little piggies!

We decided a little summer rain wasn’t going to stop us from playing with K’s trucks, and these metallic Steve Madden slip ons were an easy choice to run out the door. They would also be great with skinny black pants for work or a casual dress!

Cowboy boots and undies-My favorite combo!! My not-as-cool outfit here: shirt (old, similar here), jeans- gap.

The first four or five years of my teaching career, I wore heels almost every single day. Even when my feet would be screaming for mercy, I shoved them into my favorite pink patent leather pumps or my standard black sling backs. As the years went on though, I found myself gravitating towards the comfort of flat boots and instead of buying the back-to-school heels, I would splurge and get a new pair of boots to make it up and down the hallways.

This season I getting in on one of the most foot-friendly trends ever and freeing my sneakers from their usual rotation on casual Friday and sneaking them into my daily rotation. Giving my boots and my soles a break once in a while.

In some ways, this shoe evolution might signify my own attitude towards my job these days–comfortable. But not in a bad way. Just in that I know this is exactly what I want to be doing at this point in my life kind of way. I don’t think I could say the same about my life back at the beginning of my career. I wore the heels and attitude of someone who was desperately trying to prove themselves to the students, to other teachers and most likely to myself. I was never really just comfortable with who I was in that teacher role.

But as time has gone on, and life has taken me in different directions, I’ve really found a home, a sweet spot in my life and if my shoes are a metaphor for this, then this season will be my most secure yet!
