Best of 2017

This has been a interesting year in a lot of ways, both personally and in the public sphere. A lot has happened that gives us reason to pause. And that has really got me thinking about how easy it is to get caught up in all the negative. This year has been so full of changes in my life that can seem sometimes to be overwhelming, the minutia of it all can sometimes make me feel like I have blinders on, unable to see the big picture.

But in reality, there is just so much to be grateful for this year. So many amazing moments that make all the struggle of the day to day completely and absolutely worth it. So in the spirit of the new year, I’m taking off the blinders and reminiscing about the some of the best moments [and purchases] that made 2017 a year for the record books. Happy New Year!

Favorite Moments of 2017-

#1 New Baby!!!

Obviously the number one moment of 2017! But I can honestly say that having two is like having ten for me. Still, it has been the most beautiful, life-changing, heart-exploding experience of my entire life. I can’t wait to see what the next year holds for him as he becomes a little person. [Check out our post announcing their arrival here]

#2 “My Reasons Why”-The book my husband made for me:)

We definitely don’t have the alone time we need these days, but my husband is still my partner in crime, in life and in love. It’s so easy to forget all the reasons that made us us before we had babies, but this year, he made me a book to remind me all the reasons he loves me.

#3 Air Aerial Fitness with MB

This year really was the year that MB and I leaned on each other through it all. It was the best having babies at the same time as my best friend. Sometimes it seemed like she was the only one who understood how I was feeling. And she pushed me out of my comfort zone when we took this aerial class together…we pretty much laughed through the whole thing!  Check out our experience here.

#4 Yoga with my first born

This little man is endlessly surprising me with his insight, wit and uniqueness. I learned this year to slow down and appreciate the time where it’s just me and him. I learned that even though we are so different, our bond is stronger than ever. Original post about our relationship here.

#5 Big Brother

Even though half of the time they are battling for toys, attention, whatever, I can honestly say watching the love develop between these two little guys has made my heart so much fuller than I ever knew possible. So many adventures ahead for these two!

Favorite Purchases-

#1 Denim Skirt

I bought my denim skirt at the Nordstrom sale in the fall and I’ve gotten so much wear out of it. It’s absolutely become a staple in my wardrobe, either with heels and a sweater or t-shirt and sneakers. It’ll definitely be in heavy rotation in 2018 as well!

#2 Nyx BB Cream and Primer

Ok, so I am still all about organic and chemical free make-up as much as I can, but I’ve been having fun lately with Nyx products just to mix it up. The bb cream and primer is perfect for me right now because my skin is super dry in the winter and this one product moisturizes AND blurs fine lines…a must these days for this mama.

#3 Zella High-Waisted Leggings

Zella has become my new favorite this year because they have so many fun options and they are high-waisted. They suck in in all the right places so I can feel comfortable with the little extra padding around the middle whether I’m working out or just lounging at home.

#4 Old Navy Rock Star Jeans

Ok, so we’ve talked a lot about these jeans this year and definitely rocked them many, many times, and I can’t say enough good things about them. A-They are cheap B-They come in a ton of different styles C- They have a great combo of stretch and structure that make them my go-to option all the time.

#5 Over-The Knee Boots

I have two pairs of OTK boots and I’ve found that they truly do up the game of any outfit. I love throwing them on over jeans or leggings or dressing them up a bit with a skirt or dress. They are absolutely multi-purpose and super on-trend.
